Professional Learning & Training
Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and confused in the middle of a difficult conversation? Do you later find yourself thinking of all the things you wish you’d said? Are there some workplace issues that you avoid discussing with colleagues?
Do you find yourself giving in and then regretting it later? Do you notice others back away or avoid eye contact when you launch enthusiastically into a debate? Do you struggle when handling complaints or difficult customers?
Would you like to be able to confidently engage in any conversation constructively and without losing sight of your objectives?
The Managing Difficult Conversations workshop introduces a set of principles that can be applied to any important conversation. The workshop will explore the nature of conflict and how it affects individuals in different ways. Participants will learn the skills to create a safe space in which to surface issues and explore the underlying hopes, needs and concerns that sit below the issues. Active listening and assertive communication skills are practiced in a range of scenarios in order to build confidence in the ability to execute these skills. Participants will be challenged to consider how they may adjust their approach/style according to the context and the personality of the people that they need to have the difficult conversation with.
