Who is it for?
This practice-based qualification is designed for professionals working as individual counsellors, social workers, psychologists and other related fields who are seeking to develop skills and knowledge to work therapeutically with couples and families where the relationships are the primary focus.Relationships Australia NSW delivers this qualification in partnership with Australian Institute of Social Relations, RTO 102358 (the training division of Relationships Australia South Australia Ltd).
What will it be like?
In this course, participants who successfully complete the learning and assessment activities will have acquired skills and knowledge about the dynamics and interactional patterns of couple and family relationships through a systemic lens. This systemic lens equips learners to conceptualise complex family and couple relationships within the wider context of their lives and to effectively develop counselling interventions to meet the goals and needs of the clients.
Important Course Information
Practice frameworks for detecting relationship risks, assessing for safety and responding appropriately in regard to Domestic and Family Violence, parenting stress, mental health concerns and child harm, are central to the course. Child-focused practice and an introduction to principles of inclusion and diversity are embedded within this qualification.
