It can start as a minor issue, but when not dealt with or managed adequately, it can fester or snowball. The next time an incident happens, it can add to the pile, making us less resilient or less confident in tackling it. Colleagues around us might start to notice and weigh in with their own experiences and suggestions. I was leading <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">a team<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> of about 30<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">, and two of my <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">senior staff<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> had a disagreement over something that seemed trivial at first<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> \u2013<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> a misunderstanding about <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">the use<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> of resources<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">. But as time went on, what started as a <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">very solvable problem <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">turned into <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">tenseness <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">that everyone in the office could feel. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">E<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">ach<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> person<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW19570414 BCX0\">double<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW19570414 BCX0\">d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW19570414 BCX0\">-down<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> on their point of view, and their <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">colleagues<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> f<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">ell <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">into <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">alliances b<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">ehind them<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> I <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">was<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> caught in the middle. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">Each <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">\u2018<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">side<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">\u2019<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> wanted me to back them. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">Should I step in and help them work it out? Was it even my place<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\"> or someone else\u2019s job<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW19570414 BCX0\">?
