Disaster Resilience Workshops
for Regional NSW

Become a Disaster Resilience Leader for Regional Australians

Fires, floods, extreme weather events... Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and unpredictable.

This free two-day workshop is for community leaders who would like to develop skills to build resilience in your community, and be able to support people experiencing difficult times.

We’re looking for community leaders in regional NSW

We’re currently looking for community leaders and frontline workers who are regularly engaged with the following groups:

  • Youth (14-25 years)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Farm residents
  • Older people (65 years and over)

For example, if you work or volunteer at a youth centre, sporting organisation, YWCA or YMCA branch, PCYC branch, retirement village, senior citizens club, Probus Club, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community group, farm residents’ association, Country Womens Association branch, local Scouts NSW branch – you are encouraged to attend our free workshops.

Gain new professional skills, and help those around you

Day one of the free workshop will deliver an all-round training in the disaster cycle and community recovery.

Day two will focus on supporting you to develop a small project of your choosing that will build resilience in your local community.

You will learn how to build resilience in individuals, groups and communities and be supported to develop a project plan. Ongoing support will be provided for people who attend day two in the form of mentorship, learning circles and access to resources.

Light lunch and refreshment will be provided.

After your training, you will:

  • Have a working knowledge of trauma and its effects on individuals and communities
  • Understand the definition, meaning and importance of building resilience
  • Have practical supports and a roadmap to deliver bespoke community events to build wider community resilience, connection, and support
